There are many fantastic cave systems in Hemavan Tärnaby
Some are the longest to be found in Sweden. There are many underground caves in the Hemavan/Tärnaby region.
Some of Sweden’s longest underground cave systems are located here. Centred in and around the tiny hamlet of Kåtaviken, the caves are part of a much larger system that is concentrated on the Norwegian side of the border. Over 200 systems are known to exist.
The caves we visit are easy to negotiate, with large impressive halls, but there are some which are very difficult and require previous potholing experience. Winter visits can be combined with x-country ski tours, snowmobile safaris or fishing trips to the Atlantic coast. In summer, combine caving with running Norway’s Rana river rapids.
